THUMB AREA RESEARCH & INNOVATION OUTPOSTS

In today's very complex, global marketplace finding the BEST solution to a business development problem is rarely found in one place or via one person.  Instead, the quality and strength of a solution often comes from the cooperative, concentrated focus of a group of business professionals and/or institutions on an issue.

This rationale has led to the formation of Research & Innovation OUTPOSTS co-located within each Technical/Skill Center in the Thumb Region: 

Huron Area Technical Center, 1160 S. Van Dyke, Bad Axe

Lapeer Education & Technology Center, 690 Lake Pleasant Rd., Attica

Sanilac Career Center, 175 E. Aitken Rd., Peck

Tuscola Technology Center, 1401 Cleaver Rd., Caro

Each Center has agreed to set aside appropriate space and technology to facilitate the Research & Innovation OUTPOST initiative. In addition, Saginaw Valley State University, Delta College, Mott Community College, Baker College, Davenport University, St. Clair County Community College and Kettering University have agreed to participate in this unique project. Businesses may bring research and innovation ideas or problems to each OUTPOST for assistance from professionals from a multitude of specialized business areas.  The OUTPOSTS are designed to coordinate everyone’s efforts in order to achieve desired outcomes. 

The OUTPOSTS will maintain an open entry-open exit structure, and all ideas and problems will be considered for services.  However, due to limited time and resources, business matters most closely linked to increased employment opportunities, business expansion or business retention will receive priority.
